The Hold Calculator (sometimes called Juice or Vig calculator) shows you the theoretical profit margin built into a bookmaker's odds. The higher the hold percentage, the worse the odds are for bettors.
For a fair market with no bookmaker margin, the total implied probability would be exactly 100%. When the total exceeds 100%, the excess is the hold percentage. For example, standard -110/-110 lines on both sides of a bet have a hold of around 4.76%.
Savvy bettors look for lines with lower hold percentages to maximize their expected value over time.
